Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano located in the northern part of Tanzania, in East Africa. It is part of the East African Rift system and is situated within Arusha National Park, near the city of Arusha. Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain in Africa, with an elevation of 4,562.13 meters (14,968 feet) above sea level.
Mount Meru is often considered a warm-up or acclimatization climb for those planning to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest mountain in Africa. The trek to the summit of Mount Meru typically takes around 3 to 4 days, and it offers hikers the opportunity to experience diverse ecosystems, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and the rugged landscape of the ash cone at the summit.
The summit of Mount Meru features a distinctive horseshoe-shaped crater, and from the top, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance

Day by day Mount Meru Hike.
Day 1: Morning transfer to Momela Gate (1500m) to start the climb, 3 hours walk gets you to Mariakamba Hut. Afternoon explore the Meru Crater. Overnight at Mariakamba Hut.
Day 2: Climb to Saddle Hut which will take about three hours along the steep Saddle walls. Explore Little Meru (3820m), a 1 ½ hour climb in the afternoon. Overnight at Saddle Hut
Day 3: Early morning, a scend to the summit of Mount Meru (4566m) which will take up to 5 hours and then return to Mariakamba Hut for overnight OR descend to Momela Gate (7 hours).
The best time to climb the mountain is between October and February, although there may be some rain in November.
